I approached Claire in early March 2017 about doing some work experience at Plantpassion. I was completing my Level 3 City and Guilds Diploma in Floristry and wanted the chance to be in a floristry environment where I could learn about British flowers and Flower farming.

The experience has been so valuable and I have loved every minute of it.

Claire is a brilliant mentor, so knowledgeable, and she takes time to educate support and encourage. I have learnt so much about British flowers, especially seasonality and been introduced to so many new varieties. I was new to flower growing before I started and Claire was generous with her time and patience each week in explaining every new task and process.

Claire is not only an inspiration in the exceptional flowers she produces and her experience of flower growing, but in her knowledge of running a sustainable business, which she has been willing to impart. I have also really enjoyed the opportunity to be part of workshops, talks and network with other people in the floristry industry through my work experience at Plantpassion. Improving my floristry skills surrounded by a wonderful variety of flowers has been a real highlight.

Six months later I am still here, its been an absolute pleasure to be part of the Plantplassion team and see the lifecycle of a busy flower farm from Spring to Autumn . I have gained many new skills and definitely improved my knowledge about British flowers, floristry and running a business. As I continue my flower journey, I shall certainly be buying flowers from Plantpassion and hope to remain part of the Plantpassion team!

Opportunities with Plantpassion

Flower farming is hard work.

My Team are amazing, and i couldn't do it without them. It takes a special kind of person to work on a flower farm. You have to love the outside, even when it rains, you have to not be afraid of hard physical work, or mud. You have to work quickly, but handle fragile blooms with care, and you have to realise that it is farming, not gardening and that we don't get everything finished, and yet we need to produce a quality product, and serve our customers in a timely fashion with a smile.

If you think that you have these qualities, and you'd like to join us in East Clandon on the flower field, then please read below for our current vacancies

Work Experience Students

If you have a college course in Floristry, or horticulture particularly at Merrist Wood College, and need work experience during the 2017/ 2018 season, please get in touch. Our Floristry students help us Pick, Condition, Make displays and maintain the flowers. Our Horticulture students help us Plant, prepare beds, maintain displays, propagate and water and fertilise our plants.

We regret that this season we are now unable to offer other Work experience sessions as our workload is too heavy. Please do look at our Workshops for experiences on the flower farm, or The business of selling flowers for more information about selling flowers.
