10th Anniversary of our Opening event, Come and join us for a tour of the farm

10 years ago at the end of May in 2013 we held an opening party for 70 Neighbours, friends and family.

It was a cold wet evening, and the new top that I'd bought for the occasion was well hidden under layers of jumpers and coats, but everyone was enthusiastic about seeing what we were looking to create at Hill top farm.

Here's the original blog that was written about it, with some of Matt Pereira's photos of the evening.

We hadn't actually produced many flowers at that stage, and the sweet peas were a couple of days away from blooming, but everyone was interested in what we had planned.

Fast forward 10 years, and we are an Award winning Artisan flower farm. The business is successful and sustainable, but not without its challenges, - not least the weather.  That first evening where we dodged the showers to show people round, was an easy introduction to how as a flower farmer the extremes of weather can have a large effect on your growing, your success of your crops, and on whether your customers will want the flowers.

If you'd like to see how we are trying to future proof the farm, how we've increased the biodiversity, and how we're growing flowers for cutting whatever the weather, then we're offering a special walk and talk tour at the end of May.
